Susan Boyle and Lewis Capaldi Surprise Audience with a Stunning Duet of The Beatles’ ‘Yesterday’ at the Royal Highland Centre

Music fans witnessed a truly unforgettable moment at a show at the when two of Scotland’s most beloved vocalists, Susan Boyle and Lewis Capaldi, took to the stage together for a stunning duet of The Beatles’ classic, “Yesterday.”
The unannounced performance sent a wave of shock and emotion through the crowd. Although both artists rose to fame on Britain’s Got Talent (in different seasons), this marked the first time they have officially performed a duet together.
Lewis Capaldi, known for his soulful ballads and raw vocal delivery, began the song with a quiet, pensive opening. As he sang the first verse, Susan Boyle’s presence—the global phenomenon who became an overnight sensation with her performance of “I Dreamed a Dream”—remained a mystery.
As the chorus began, the stage lights suddenly illuminated Boyle. With her powerful, emotive, and seasoned voice, she joined Capaldi in a seamless harmony. The combination of Capaldi’s gritty, powerful tone and Boyle’s crystal-clear, resonant vocals created a version of “Yesterday” that was both hauntingly beautiful and majestically powerful.
Thousands of fans rose to their feet, giving a thunderous ovation, with many visibly moved to tears. The duet quickly became the hottest topic on social media, with clips of the performance being shared widely. The online community expressed admiration not only for the artists’ talent but also for their rare and captivating chemistry on stage.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes. This is the collaboration we didn’t know we needed,” one Twitter user wrote.
Lewis Capaldi Surprises Susan Boyle with Flowers and Singing Card
Lewis Capaldi has been delighting his UK fans by sending parcels containing bouquets of flowers and quirky cards featuring lines from his upcoming single.
Among the recipients was none other than Susan Boyle, with whom he has formed a close friendship in recent weeks.
The West Lothian singer shared the parcel with her followers on Instagram, posting a short and cheerful video of herself listening to the card while wearing a stylish outfit, reports the Daily Record.
She captioned the post: “@lewiscapaldi, thank you so much for the beautiful flowers and your singing card! Something in the heavens tells me that this is your next No.1. Wishing you every success with the album and I can’t wait to come see you on tour! Susan ”
In the clip, the Britain’s Got Talent star can be seen thoroughly enjoying the song, nodding along to the music. As the video ends, she adds: “That’s your next number one. All the best.”
The 64-year-old and Lewis, 28, have developed a friendship in recent weeks. This was highlighted last month when they were photographed together at Geordie singer Sam Fender’s Edinburgh Summer Sessions gig, where they appeared to have a “lovely catch up.”
Susan once again marked the occasion by sharing a snap on social media, posting a photo of herself sandwiched between Sam and the Someone You Loved singer.
Her caption read: “Brilliant night watching the incredible @sam_fender. Such a great show. Especially lovely to catch up with my neighbour @lewiscapaldi after too.”
Both singers hail from Bathgate, with Lewis raised in Whitburn and Susan still living in her hometown of Blackburn. It’s this local connection that explains her affectionate use of the word “neighbour.”
The meeting has since sparked plenty of attention from fans of both artists, who were thrilled to see the unlikely duo forming a close friendship.
Just last year, Susan spoke about Lewis and expressed her hope that the pair might one day perform a duet together. She said:
“Lewis Capaldi is an absolute sweetheart. He has an incredible voice, an incredible personality and is so down to earth, which I love. Our paths have never crossed and we actually went to the same high school—St Kentigern’s Academy. I would be honoured to duet with him and even do a wee comedy sketch. I feel we would have quite a carry-on!”
