Susan Boyle Returns to Instagram After 2 Years, Teases Return to Music After Minor Stroke
Susan Boyle shared her first Instagram post after a two-year hiatus, teasing new music in the works and declaring, “I am back.”
Susan Boyle is back.
The Britain’s Got Talent alum made her grand return to Instagram for the first time since 2023, sporting a hot pink blazer and glam, declaring, “I am back, definitely back.”
“Today’s a special day — it’s my birthday!” Susan captioned the April 1 post. “But I’ve got something exciting to share. I’m back and working on some wonderful new projects that I can’t wait for you to hear about!”
Sharing that she “can’t wait to do more” Susan teased exciting news will be coming soon. But for now, she’s just checking in.
“I just wanted to say how much I’ve missed you all,” she continued. “Your support means the world to me and I’m more determined and excited than ever.”
The “Wild Horses” singer returns to the platform following a minor stroke she suffered in 2022. In one of her last posts before her recent return, Susan opened up about how the stroke impacted her speech and music.
“For the past year I have worked so hard to get my speech and singing back,” she wrote on the June 2023 post, “with the sole aim of being able to sing on stage again.”
And return to the stage she did. In the post, she shared pictures of her on the stage for the Season 16 finale of Britain’s Got Talent in a surprise performance of “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables—the song she performed for her viral Season 3 audition.
When asked by hosts Dec Donnelly and Ant McPartlin what it felt like to be back on stage, she said, “it feels great.”
“I have fought like crazy to get back on stage,” Susan added. “And I have done it.”
Susan first rose to fame following her appearance on the third season of BGT, ending the show in second place. Despite being a runner-up, after releasing her debut album later that same year titled I Dreamed A Dream, it quickly became the UK’s best-selling debut album of all time.

And during her full-circle moment performance in 2023, Simon Cowell took a moment to express how much the Scottish artist means to the show.
“Susan, we owe you so much and I knew you weren’t well,” he said. “But if anyone was going to come back you were going to come back because we wouldn’t be the same without you.”
Susan Boyle’s net worth and life now 16 years on from her Britain’s Got Talent audition
It’s been 16 years since Susan Boyle shot to fame on Britain’s Got Talent, and the Scottish sensation has come a long way since her unforgettable audition
Susan Boyle first captured our hearts in 2009 with her unforgettable performance on Britain’s Got Talent. The West Lothian lass left both the judges and viewers at home utterly captivated with her mesmerising rendition of I Dreamed a Dream from Les Misérables.
Following her viral performance, which propelled her to global stardom, Susan was widely tipped to win the show and earn a coveted spot on the Royal Variety Performance. However, she ultimately finished second to dance troupe Diversity, which featured the now famous dancing brothers Ashley and Jordan Banjo.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, the Scottish singer has amassed a net worth of $40 million, which is roughly just under £31 million. This is in part due to her numerous album releases, and nobody can forget #Susanalbumparty and the controversy the promotional hashtag caused. Other business endeavours include Duil Limited, Speur Business, Speur Ltd, and Speur Films, which have accumulated an impressive £2 million.
Despite her substantial wealth, Susan Boyle is renowned for her thrifty habits, previously telling Piers Morgan that she’s prudent with her spending. The singing sensation may have millions at her fingertips, but she adheres to a modest weekly budget of £300-£500, which she asserts is “plenty.”
Susan’s grounded personality is reflected in her decision to remain in her childhood home in Blackburn, West Lothian where growing up there was nine of them living there. She said, “There’s a bit of history attached to this house” and as a result purchased her former council house for £111,000, a small fraction of her fortune. The singer has since renovated the house that she has lived in for over 60 years.
Susan said: “It’s to do with the memories of your house and your upbringing, you need to take stock of things and maybe see where you come from and where your roots lie.
“It’s best to be grounded and with your roots. It keeps you grounded and prevents you from saying things maybe you shouldn’t say.”

Despite her fondness for her childhood memories, she has faced familial tensions, particularly with her brother Gerry. The pair reportedly did not communicate for over two years due to allegations that Gerry had threatened to take his own life unless Susan gave him £50,000. Reports suggest that Susan has provided her brother with approximately £400,000 over time.
Thankfully, the siblings have mended their relationship since 2016. In conversation with the Sunday Mirror, Susan conveyed her contentment: “I’m very happy, it’s a great relief and I’m looking to the future with a happy smile. Everything is hunky dory and fantastic.”
Although, family drama was the least of her worries, with Susan having a battle with her health. She spoke candidly about losing two stone after being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in a 2016 interview. She was straightforward about the dietary adjustments she had to make, stating: “I needed to stop eating sweeties and cakes. It’s the bane of my life.”
In a frank conversation with STV’s What’s on Scotland, Susan Boyle discussed her health challenges and future aspirations, revealing: “It’s taken me three years and it’s been hard – I’m not going to pretend otherwise but it’s made me determined to keep going.”
After recovering from a stroke in 2022, the singer took a brief break from the spotlight. Although, this week she shared an update with fans that she would be working on some exciting new projects and that she was back. This marks Susan’s first social media post in two years.
To celebrate her 64th birthday, the singer said: “Today’s a special day — it’s my birthday! But I’ve got something exciting to share… I’m back and working on some wonderful new projects that I can’t wait for you to hear about!
“More news will be coming very soon, but I just wanted to say how much I’ve missed you all. Your support means the world to me and I’m more determined and excited than ever. Love, Susan x”
Fans of the singer were excited to see the announcement, with some commenting on her post welcoming the singer back. One fan said: “Can’t wait you see you performing again!!”
In the video Susan showed off her new glamorous look, fresh with highlights and a hot pink suit. One fan showed their support saying: “SUSAN YOU ATE THESE LOOKS happy birthday to my queen of england.”
Britain’s Got Talent has now launched its 18th season, which started on Saturday, February 22. The series saw the return of presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, alongside the judging panel consisting of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli, and newcomer and guest judge KSI, who is a popular YouTuber and rapper.
